Rear Bumper Extension Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Apply tape to the corners of the adjacent surfaces.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Remove the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement Rear Energy Absorber Replacement.
4. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Sedan) Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Sedan)Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Coupe/Convertible) Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Coupe/Convertible).
5. Remove the push-in retainers from the center of the rear bumper extension lower.
6. Remove the bolts from around the inside edge rear bumper extension lower.
7. Remove the rear bumper extension lower by hand, releasing the integral snaps (1) from the backside of the rear fascia.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear bumper extension lower to the fascia with the 7 integral snaps (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the 6 bolts around the lower inside edge of the rear bumper extension lower.
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (52 lb in).
3. Install the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement Rear Energy Absorber Replacement.
4. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Sedan) Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Sedan)Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Coupe/Convertible) Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement (Coupe/Convertible).
5. Remove the protective tape.
6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
