Convertible Top Motor: Service and Repair
Folding Top Pump with Motor Replacement (Motor)
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Eye Protection Warning Eye Protection Warning.

1. Place the folding top in the fully closed position.
2. Open the rear compartment.
3. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
4. Place a protective covering over the rear compartment interior and the adjacent body panels.
5. Remove the right side compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Convertible) Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Convertible)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Coupe/Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Coupe/Sedan).
Note: Do Not remove the pump completely from the storage compartment.
6. Release the hydraulic pump pressure. Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment Adjustments.
7. Remove the 2 nuts that attach the control module to the pump bracket.
8. Remove the nuts (2) that attach the pump to the floor pan.
Note: When removing the motor it is NOT necessary to remove the hydraulic lines from the pump. The motor can be transfer from inside the storage compartment.
9. Use a clean shop towel to control any hydraulic fluid leakage.
10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hydraulic pump.
11. Stand the pump (3) and motor (2) upright to gain access to the pump motor screws (1).
12. Remove the screws from the pump motor.
Note: Do Not let the pump propeller driver (1) separate from the pump (2) when pulling apart. If the pump propeller driver separates from the pump it is no longer serviceable and must be replaced.
13. Remove the motor from the pump assembly.
14. Remove the pump propeller (1) from the motor (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the pump propeller (1) to the motor (2).
2. Stand the pump (3) and motor (2) upright to gain access to the motor screws (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Install the screws to the pump motor.
Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
Note: When reinstalling the pump motor propeller it must be in-line with the pump propeller driver (3).
4. Install the motor to the pump assembly.
5. Connect the electrical connectors to the hydraulic pump.
6. Install the nuts that attach the pump bracket to the floor pan.
Tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
7. Install the 2 nuts that attach the control module to the pump bracket.
8. Remove the protective covering from the rear compartment interior and the adjacent body panels.
9. Tighten the hydraulic pump bypass valve (1). Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment Adjustments.
10. Connect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
11. Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks and fluid level. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition Service and Repair.
12. Install the side compartment trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Convertible) Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Convertible)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Coupe/Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side (Coupe/Sedan).
13. Close the rear compartment.
14. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
