Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair




Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Note: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.




1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining (Non E-85) Procedures.
2. Remove the fuel fill pipe bolt from the fuel fill pocket.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




4. Remove the fuel fill pipe bolt from the underbody.
5. Disconnect and reposition the rear stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement Rear Suspension.




6. Loosen the fuel fill pipe hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.
7. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line quick connect fitting (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
8. Disconnect and remove the fuel fill pipe hose assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Install and connect the fuel fill pipe hose assembly.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution

2. Install the fuel fill pipe hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank and tighten to 4 Nm(35 lb in).
3. Connect the vapor recirculation line quick connect fitting (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.




4. Install the fuel fill pipe bolt to the underbody and tighten to 10 Nm(89 lb in).
5. Position and connect the rear stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement Rear Suspension.




6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the fuel fill pipe bolt to the fuel fill pocket and tighten to 1.5 Nm(13 lb in).
