Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure




Warning: Refer to SIR Warning SIR Warning.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
2. Tilt up the upper trim cover (1) and release the lock rings (2) from the instrument panel seal.
3. Remove the upper trim cover.




4. Remove the lower trim cover screws (2) from the lower trim cover (3).
5. Lower the steering column rake lever (1) to lower the steering column toward the driver.
6. Remove the lower trim cover (3).

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the lower trim cover (3) onto the steering column. Install the lower trim cover screws (2) into the lower trim cover (3).

Tighten the lower trim cover screws (2) to 1.5 Nm (13 lb in).




2. Install the upper trim cover (1) and install the instrument panel seal retaining nuts (2).
3. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column. Install the instrument panel seal retaining nuts (1) onto the upper trim cover (2).
4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
