Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (Convertible)
Removal Procedure
1. Install the engine support fixture.
* For vehicles equipped with the 3.5L (LZ4), refer to Engine Support Fixture Engine Support Fixture.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Remove the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
4. Remove the LH and RH reinforcements. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (Convertible) Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (Convertible).
5. Remove the catalytic convertors.
* For the left catalytic convertor, refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LY7) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ4) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ9) .
* For the right catalytic convertor, refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LY7) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ4) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO M15) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (M15)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO MT2) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (MT2).
6. Disconnect the stabilizer links from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Lower the frame in order to gain access to the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Frame Replacement (Convertible) Frame Replacement (Convertible)Frame Replacement (Coupe 2.4L) Frame Replacement (Coupe 2.4L)Frame Replacement (3.6L) Frame Replacement (3.6L)Frame Replacement (Coupe 3.5L, 3.9L) Frame Replacement (Coupe 3.5L, 3.9L).
8. Support the rear of the frame assembly with a suitable jack stand.
9. Remove the stabilizer bar clamps and insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement Front Suspension.
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft thru the opening between the frame and body.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle through the opening between the frame and body.
2. Install the stabilizer bar clamps and insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement Front Suspension.
3. Raise the frame into place. Refer to Frame Replacement (Convertible) Frame Replacement (Convertible)Frame Replacement (Coupe 2.4L) Frame Replacement (Coupe 2.4L)Frame Replacement (3.6L) Frame Replacement (3.6L)Frame Replacement (Coupe 3.5L, 3.9L) Frame Replacement (Coupe 3.5L, 3.9L).
4. Install the LH and RH reinforcements. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (Convertible) Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (Convertible).
5. Remove the jack stand.
6. Connect the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Install the catalytic convertors.
* For the left catalytic convertor, refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LY7) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ4) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ9) .
* For the right catalytic convertor, refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LY7) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ4) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO M15) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (M15)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO MT2) Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (MT2).
8. Install the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the engine support fixture.
