Positive: Service and Repair

Battery Positive Cable Replacement (LZ4, LZ9, or LZE) (3.5L)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Loosen the battery positive cable bolt and remove the battery positive cable from the battery.
3. Loosen the battery positive cable bolt (4) at the junction block and remove the cable from the junction block.
4. Remove the battery positive cable clip (3) from the battery tray.
5. Remove the tape holding the battery negative cable to the battery positive cable.




6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
7. Remove the battery positive cable nut (1) and terminal (2) from the starter solenoid.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Remove the battery positive cable.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the battery positive cable.
2. Raise and the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and nut (1) to the starter solenoid.Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in)
4. Install the battery positive cable nut (3) to the starter solenoid and tighten to.
5. Lower the vehicle.




6. Install the battery positive cable to the junction block and tighten the battery positive cable bolt (4) to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
7. Install the battery positive cable clip (3) to the battery tray.
8. Install tape in order to secure the battery negative cable to the battery positive cable.
9. Position the battery positive cable to the battery.
10. Tighten the battery positive cable bolt to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
