Circuit/System Description
The front power windows are controlled by the driver window switch and the front passenger window switch. The driver window switch contains the master power window switch that controls all power window operations. When a power window switch is activated to a desired position, power window switch will send a signal to its respective door window motor to move the window to the desired position.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, command the driver window UP and DOWN using the driver window switch. The driver window should perform the UP and DOWN functions.
• If the driver window does not perform the UP/DOWN function, refer to Driver Window Malfunction.
2. Command the passenger window UP and DOWN using the RF window switch on the driver master control and the passenger door window switch. The passenger window should perform the UP and DOWN functions from each switch.
• If the passenger window does not perform the UP/DOWN function, refer to Passenger Window Malfunction.
3. Command the express up and express down functions of the driver and passenger door windows by pressing their window switches past the first detent and releasing and pulling their window switches past the first detent and releasing. The appropriate window should perform the express up and express down function.
• If the function does not perform as specified, refer to Power Window Reinitialization (Coupe/Convertible Only) Programming and Relearning.
Circuit/System Testing
Driver Window Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the driver window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the driver window motor.
4. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
5. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit 6 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the PWR WDO fuse is open, replace the driver window motor.
6. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
7. Command the driver door window DOWN by using the driver switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the DOWN state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
8. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
9. Command the driver door window UP by using the driver switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
10. If all circuits test normal, replace the driver window motor.
Passenger Window Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohm between the control circuit terminal H and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
4. Test for less than 5 ohm between the control circuit terminal D and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
5. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal D and the control circuit terminal H.
6. Ignition ON, command the passenger window UP and DOWN by using the RF window switch on the driver master control. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the driver window switch.
7. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the passenger window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window motor.
8. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
9. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 6 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the PWR WDO fuse is open, replace the passenger window motor.
10. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
11. Command the passenger window DOWN by using the passenger window switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the DOWN state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger window switch.
12. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
13. Command the passenger window UP by using the passenger window switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP state.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the passenger window switch.
14. If all circuits test normal, replace the passenger window motor.
Component Testing
Driver Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. With the switch in the INACTIVE position, test for infinite resistance between the control terminals and the B+ terminal 3 listed below:
* RF window switch control terminal 1
* RF window switch control terminal 4
* Driver window switch control terminal 7
* Driver window switch control terminal 8
• If less than the specified value, replace the driver window switch.
3. With the switch in the UP position, test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminals and the B+ terminal 3 listed below:
* RF window switch control terminal 1
* Driver window switch control terminal 7
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
4. With the switch in the DOWN position, test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminals and the B+ terminal 3 listed below:
* RF window switch control terminal 4
* Driver window switch control terminal 8
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
Passenger Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the control terminals F and G and the B+ terminal A with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the passenger window switch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminal F and the B+ terminal A with the switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
4. Test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminal G and the B+ terminal A with the switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
