Axle Lubricant Change

Removal Procedure




1. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential cover plug (1) and gasket.
2. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential drain plug and gasket, then drain the oil.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential drain plug with a new gasket and tighten to 39 Nm (29 lb ft).
2. Add oil.
3. Check the oil level.
4. Install the rear differential carrier cover plug.

Note: After replacing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.

5. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential carrier cover plug (1) with a new gasket and tighten to 39 Nm (29 lb ft).
6. Stop the vehicle in a level place.





Note:
* Excessively large or small amount of oil may cause damage.
* After replacing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.

7. Check that the oil surface is within 5 mm (0.197 in) of the lowest position of the inner surface of the differential filler plug opening.
8. Check for oil leakage if the oil level is low.




9. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the differential carrier cover plug (1) and a new gasket and tighten to 39 Nm (29 lb ft).
