Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the trim covers from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement).




3. Slide the key amplifier to disengage the two clips (1),(2).




4. Disconnect the connector (1) and remove the key amplifier.
5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement).
6. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement (Service and Repair).




7. Remove the two screws (2),(3) and the key interlock solenoid (1).




8. Disconnect the key interlock solenoid wire connector (1) from the key interlock solenoid.




9. Remove the key interlock solenoid wire (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case.




10. Remove the unlock warning switch assembly by pushing up the center part (1) and release the two clips.




11. Use a screw extractor (1) or a center punch in order to remove the two bolts from the ignition lock cylinder case.
12. Remove the case and the case clamp from the steering column.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the ignition lock cylinder case and the case clamp to the steering column.
2. Install 2 NEW tapered head bolts (1). Tighten the bolts until the bolt heads break off.




3. Install the unlock warning switch assembly by pushing down the center part and engaging the two clips (1),(2).




4. Install the key interlock solenoid wire (1) to the ignition lock cylinder case.




5. Connect the key interlock solenoid wire connector (1) to the key interlock solenoid.




6. Install the two screws (2),(3) and the key interlock solenoid (1).
7. Install the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement (Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement).




9. Connect the connector (1) to the key amplifier.




10. Slide the key amplifier to engage the two clips (1),(2).
11. Install the trim covers from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement).
12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
