Steering Control Module: Service and Repair




Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Ensure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
2. Remove the upper instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement).




3. Separate the wire harness clamp (1) from the electronic power steering motor control module.




4. Pull out the lock (1) of the lock lever.
5. Turn the lock lever in order to disconnect the connector (2) from the module.




6. Disconnect the 3 connectors (1, 2, 3) from the module.




7. Remove the bolt (3), the 2 nuts (1, 2), and the module from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the electronic power steering motor control module with the bolt (3) and the 2 nuts (1, 2) and tighten to 8.0 Nm (71 lb in).




2. Connect the 3 connectors (1, 2, 3) to the module.




3. Connect the connector (1) to the module.
4. Turn the lock lever (2).
5. Securely push in the lock of the lock lever.
6. Install the wire harness clamp (3) to the module.
7. Install the upper instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement).
8. Initialize the steering angle sensor and calibrate torque sensor zero point.
