29. Reverse Clutch Housing and Input Shaft Assemble
Reverse Clutch Housing and Input Shaft Assemble
1. Align a cutout on the direct clutch housing with the matchmark on the reverse clutch housing and install the direct clutch housing to the reverse clutch housing.
2. Coat the direct clutch piston with ATF WS and install it to the reverse clutch housing and direct clutch housing assembly.
3. Install the direct clutch spring onto the direct clutch piston.
4. Compress the piston springs with a press and adaptor (1).
Note:
* Stop pressing when the spring seat is 1-2 mm (0.039-0.078 in) from the snap ring groove to prevent the spring seat from being deformed.
* Do not expand the snap ring excessively.
5. Using snap ring pliers, install the snap ring to the reverse clutch housing.
6. Coat the direct clutch plates (3, 4) with ATF WS and install them to the direct clutch housing.
7. Install the snap ring (2) to the direct clutch housing.
8. Coat the plates (2-4) with ATF WS, and install them to the reverse clutch housing.
9. Install the snap ring (1) to the reverse clutch housing.
10. Inspect the pack clearance of the reverse clutch.
11. Install the reverse clutch housing and direct clutch housing assembly to the transmission case cover.
Note: If the clearance is not within the specified range, select a new clutch plate.
12. Using a dial indicator, measure the reverse clutch pack clearance while applying and releasing compressed air.
Pack clearance - 0.62-1.16 mm (0.0244- 0.0456 in)
13. There are 4 different thicknesses of plates available. Refer to Transmission General Specifications (Transmission General Specifications) Transmission General Specifications.
14. Inspect the pack clearance of the direct clutch.
15. Install the reverse clutch housing and direct clutch housing assembly to the transmission case cover.
Note: If the clearance is not within the specified range, select a new clutch plate.
16. Using a dial indicator, measure the direct clutch pack clearance while applying and releasing compressed air.
The direct and reverse clutch will come out as compressed air is applied.
Therefore, while performing the check, press on the input shaft of the direct and reverse clutch using a press or the equivalent so that the pressure is not applied to the direct and reverse clutch.
Pack clearance - 0.62-1.02 mm (0.0244-0.0402 in)
17. There are 4 different plate thicknesses. Refer to Transmission General Specifications (Transmission General Specifications) Transmission General Specifications.
18. Install the reverse clutch housing and direct clutch housing assembly to the transmission case.
19. Install the direct clutch housing thrust needle roller bearing.
20. Install the transmission case fluid passage gaskets.
21. Install the bearing to the reverse clutch housing.
22. Inspect the reverse clutch housing shaft.
23. Install the transmission case cover with the bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
24. Using a dial indicator, measure the reverse clutch housing shaft end play.
End play - 0.21-0.96 mm (0.0082-0.0377 in)
25. If the end play is not as specified, select and replace the direct clutch housing thrust bearing.
There are 2 different thicknesses of thrust needle roller bearings available.
* Color - Brown, Thickness - 0.785 mm (0.0309 in)
* Color - Black, Thickness - 1.1 mm (0.0433 in)
26. Remove the bolts and the transmission case cover.
27. Install new transmission case fluid passage gaskets to the transmission case.
