Forward Clutch Assembly Disassemble

1. Remove the forward clutch housing input shaft assembly from the transmission case.




2. Remove the forward clutch housing thrust bearing from the input shaft.




3. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.
4. Remove the forward clutch plates from the forward clutch housing.





Note: Do not compress the return spring excessively.

5. Compress the return spring with a press and DT-47693-2 (1).
6. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.




7. Remove the forward clutch upper piston half and piston return spring.




8. Place the forward clutch housing onto the oil pump.

Note: If the piston cannot be removed because it is tilted, either apply compressed air again while keeping the piston level or remove the piston using needle-nose pliers with their tips wrapped in protective tape.

9. Holding the lower half of the forward clutch piston, apply compressed air to the oil pump to remove the forward clutch piston lower half.




10. Using a screwdriver, remove the clutch piston ring (1) from the forward clutch piston.




11. Using a screwdriver, remove the input shaft fluid seal ring from the forward clutch housing.




12. Remove the forward clutch hub thrust needle roller bearing from the forward clutch hub.




13. Remove the forward clutch hub from the transmission case.
