Rear Internal Gear and Front Carrier Installation
Special Tools
* DT-48060-A Bushing Installer and Remover
* DT-49189 Counter Gear Nut Wrench
* EN 46104 Water Pump Pulley Holding Tool
Note: Draw the inner race of the output gear bearing (front side), output gear, and front carrier assembly to the position where no pre-load is applied to each tapered roller bearing (left and right).
1. Using DT-48060-A , install the threaded rod DT-48060-3 and DT-48060-4 to install the front carrier assembly to the output gear.
2. Install a new washer (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
3. Using DT-49189 (1), and EN 46104 , install the nut and tighten to 185 Nm (136 lb ft).
4. Using DT-49189 (1) and a torque wrench, measure the turning torque of the bearing while rotating. If the measured value is not within the specified range, gradually tighten the nut to 350 Nm (258 lb ft) (a limit) until the turning torque falls within the specified range.
5. Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 160 mm (6.3 in) to measure the turning torque.
Bearing Turning Torque - 0.19-0.4 Nm (1.7-3.5 lb in).
6. Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front lock washer.
