Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the rear knuckle assemblies. Refer to Knuckle Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Knuckle Replacement)Knuckle Replacement (GT) (Knuckle Replacement).
3. Remove the rear wheel drive shaft assemblies.
4. Remove the rear differential carrier mounting bolts (1, 2).




5. Remove the bolts (1, 2), nuts and rear differential with differential support.




6. Remove the nuts (1, 2), bolts (3, 4) and rear No. 1 differential support.




7. Remove the bolts (1, 2, 3) and the differential support.





Note: This step should be performed only when the rear differential dynamic damper is being replaced.

8. Remove the bolt (1) and rear differential dynamic damper, if necessary.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the differential with rear No. 1 differential support to the rear suspension member front side with the bolts (1, 2) and nuts and tighten to 118 Nm (87 lb ft).




2. Install the differential with support bolts to the rear suspension member rear side with the rear mounting bolts (1, 2) and tighten to 137 Nm (101 lb ft).
3. Install the rear wheel drive shafts. Refer to Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the rear knuckle assemblies. Refer to Knuckle Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Knuckle Replacement)Knuckle Replacement (GT) (Knuckle Replacement).
5. Install the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Add the differential oil.
7. Inspect and adjust the differential oil.
