Input Shaft Seal Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the automatic transaxle assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement ().
2. Remove the engine mounting bracket.
3. Remove the transfer stiffener plate.
4. Remove the transfer assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement (Transfer Case Assembly Replacement).

Note: Do not damage the oil seal fitted surface of the case.

5. Using a suitable puller (1), remove the transfer case input shaft oil seal.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a new transfer case input shaft oil seal into the transfer case to the position shown using a suitable tool (1).

Drive in depth: 9.7-10.3 mm (0.3819-0.4055 in) (a)

2. Apply a small amount of MP grease to the lip of the oil seal.
3. Install the transfer assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement (Transfer Case Assembly Replacement).
4. Install the transfer stiffener plate.
5. Install the engine mounting bracket.
6. Install the automatic transaxle assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement ().
