Rear Brake Shield Replacement (Except All Wheel Drive and GT)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
4. Loosen the park brake system. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments)Parking Brake Adjustment (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments).
5. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (FWD) (Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement)Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (AWD) (Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement).
6. Remove the rear park brake cable and the lever protector from the hub and axle assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement)Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (GT) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement)Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement).
7. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).




8. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.
9. Remove the rear brake shield from the rear axle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the rear brake shield to the rear axle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4). Tighten the bolts to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).
3. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Rear Brake Rotor Replacement).
4. Install the rear park brake cable and the lever protector to the hub and axle assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement)Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (GT) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement)Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement).
5. Install the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (FWD) (Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement)Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (AWD) (Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement).
6. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments)Parking Brake Adjustment (Except All Wheel Drive and GT) (Adjustments).
7. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
