Engine Block Heater Replacement (Automatic Transmission)

Removal Procedure




1. Unclip the engine block heater harness plug bundle from the resonator attachment flange.




2. Detach the engine block heater harness retainer from the neutral safety switch harness.




3. Detach the engine block heater harness retainer from the engine harness.




4. Disengage the engine block heater element (1) retaining clip from the engine block and remove the engine block heater assembly.

Installation Procedure





Note: Visually inspect that the engine block heater harness plug is fully seated onto the element. Ensure the heating element is fully inserted into the engine block and the retaining clip is engaged. An audible click will be heard when clip is locked in position.

1. Completely insert the engine block heater element (1) into the engine block cavity in the nine o'clock position.




2. Route the engine block heater harness towards the front of the engine.





Note: Locate the retaining clip close to the throttle body branch. Ensure the engine block heater harness clip is fully attached to the conduit of the engine harness. An audible click will be heard when fully seated.

3. Attach the engine block heater harness clip, nearest the heating element, between the engine main wiring harness bracket and the throttle body branch.




4. Route the engine block heater harness downward towards the bottom of the engine.
5. Route the engine block heater harness below the transmission shift cable.

Note: Ensure the engine block heater harness clip is fully attached to the conduit of the neutral safety switch harness. An audible click will be heard when fully seated.

6. Attach the engine block heater harness retaining clip to the neutral safety switch harness branch bracket.
7. Route the engine block heater harness over the battery harness protector and away from the air cleaner.




8. Route the engine block heater harness under the air inlet. Then bring the harness upward along the air inlet towards the fender.

Note: When installation is completed, ensure the engine block heater harness plug bundle is stowed between the resonator and the fender.

9. Clip the engine block heater harness plug bundle to the resonator attachment flange close to the neck.
