Generator Replacement (1.8L)

Removal Procedure




Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine under cover.
3. Remove the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the terminal cap (1).
5. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness from terminal B.
6. Disconnect the generator connector (3) and 2 harness clamps.




7. Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2) and generator assembly.




8. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket (1).
9. Remove the generator assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Install generator assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the wire harness clamp bracket (1) with the bolt.

Tighten to 8.4 Nm (74 lb in).




3. Temporarily install the generator assembly with the 2 bolts (1, 2).




4. Install the generator connector (3) and wire harness clamp.
5. Install the wire harness to terminal B with the nut and install the terminal cap (1).

9.8 Nm (87 lb in).

6. Install the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the engine under cover right hand side.
8. Connect cable to negative battery terminal.
