43. 4-5 Reverse Clutch Housing Installation
4-5 Reverse Clutch Housing Installation
1. Coat the thrust bearing with ATF WS.
Note: The disc in the direct clutch should be completely matched with the hub attached outside the rear sun gear. Otherwise, the rear cover cannot be installed.
2. Install the direct 4,5 reverse clutch housing (1) and thrust bearing (2) to the direct clutch and 4, 5 clutch hub assembly.
3. Clean the contact surfaces of the transaxle case and the rear cover.
4. Place a straightedge on the direct 4, 5 reverse clutch assembly and measure the distance between the transmission case and the straightedge using vernier calipers (Dimension C).
5. Using vernier calipers and a straightedge, measure the dimension.
Note: Make sure that the uncolored race side is facing the direct clutch assembly.
6. Calculate the end play value, using end play value = Dimension D - Dimension C.
End play - 0.199-0.970 mm (0.0078-0.0382 in)
7. Select a thrust bearing which satisfies the specified value, then install it. Refer to Transmission General Specifications (Transmission General Specifications) for Bearing Thickness and Diameter.
8. Install new transmission fluid passage gaskets (1-3) to the transmission case.
Note: Make sure to install the clamp to the fluid tube before installing the tube to the transmission case. This prevents the tube from being deformed or damaged.
9. Install the clamp to the 2nd clutch apply pipe.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
10. Install the 2nd clutch apply pipe (1) to the transmission case with the bolt (2) and tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
Note:
* Face the inscribed side of the bearing race up.
* Keep pressing until the specified value is obtained.
11. Using a press (1), install the direct 4, 5 clutch housing bearing to the transmission case cover.
Press fit depth - 20.55-21.25 mm (0.8091-0.8366 in)
12. Coat the needle roller bearing with ATF WS.
Note: The rear clutch oil seal rings should be securely engaged in the grooves of the drum.
13. Coat the new direct 4, 5 reverse clutch oil seals (1) with ATF WS, and install them to the transmission case cover.
