Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open and support the liftgate.
2. Remove the left, right, and center garnish moldings. Refer to Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Center) ()Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Right) ()Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Left) ().
3. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement).




4. Disengage the four clips and remove the liftgate pull handle.
5. Remove the liftgate latch. Refer to Liftgate Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the liftgate lock actuator. Refer to Liftgate Lock Actuator Replacement (Liftgate Lock Actuator Replacement).
7. Remove the liftgate outside handle. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the liftgate lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Remove wiper motor assembly. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement (Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement).
10. Remove the spoiler. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Remove the license lamps. Refer to Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Remove the high mount stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Remove the liftgate harness.
15. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement (Service and Repair).
16. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.




17. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the liftgate with a grease pencil.
18. Remove the bolts (1) from the liftgate hinges (2), with an assistant.
19. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle , with an assistant and place outside face down on a clean padded surface.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the liftgate hinges to the marked location points on the liftgate, with an assistant.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

2. Install the bolts (1) to the liftgate hinges (2), with an assistant and tighten to 19.5 Nm (14 lb ft).
3. Support the liftgate.
4. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Install the liftgate harness.
6. Install the high mount stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the license lamps. Refer to Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the spoiler. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Install wiper motor assembly. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement (Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement).
11. Install the liftgate lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Install the liftgate outside handle. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement (Service and Repair).




13. Engage the four clips and install the liftgate pull handle.
14. Install the liftgate lock actuator. Refer to Liftgate Lock Actuator Replacement (Liftgate Lock Actuator Replacement).
15. Install the liftgate latch. Refer to Liftgate Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
16. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement).
17. Install the left, right, and center garnish moldings. Refer to Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Center) ()Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Right) ()Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement (Upper Left) ().
