Radiator Replacement (2.4L)
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the left engine under cover.
3. Remove the right engine under cover.
4. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
6. Remove the front bumper assembly. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Without GT) (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement)Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (With GT) (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement).
7. Remove the thermistor assembly.
8. Disconnect the radiator reservoir tank hose (1) from the radiator assembly.
9. Disconnect the upper radiator hose (1) from the radiator assembly.
10. Disconnect the lower radiator hose (1) from the radiator assembly.
11. Disconnect the oil cooler hose.
12. Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2) and 2 upper radiator supports.
13. Remove the 2 support cushions from the 2 upper radiator supports.
14. Remove hood lock assembly. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
15. Separate the water by-pass hose (1) from the 2 clamps (2).
16. Disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.
17. Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2) and the hood lock support subassembly.
18. Disconnect the horn connector (1).
19. Remove the 4 bolts (1) and the upper radiator support sub-assembly.
20. Remove the 2 bolts (1), disengage the 2 claws, and remove the fan shroud from the radiator assembly.
21. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector (1) and the wire harness clamp.
22. Disconnect the 2 cooling fan motor connectors (1, 2) and the wire harness clamp.
23. Remove the radiator assembly with the fan shroud.
24. Remove the 2 lower radiator supports.
25. Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses (1, 2) from the radiator.
26. Disconnect the clamp from the fan shroud.
27. Remove the 2 bolts (3) and oil cooler hose.
28. Remove the 2 bolts and fan shroud from the radiator assembly.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
1. Install the fan shroud to the radiator assembly with the 2 bolts and tighten to 7.0 Nm (62 lb in).
2. Install the oil cooler hoses (1, 2) with the 2 bolts (3) and tighten to 5.5 Nm (49 lb in).
3. Connect the clamp to the fan shroud.
4. Connect the 2 oil cooler hoses to the radiator.
5. Install radiator assembly.
6. Install the 2 lower radiator supports.
7. Install the radiator assembly with the fan shroud.
8. Connect the cooling fan motor connector (1), without air conditioning system.
9. Connect the cooling fan motor connector and wire harness clamp.
10. Connect the 2 cooling fan motor connectors (1, 2) and the wire harness clamp with air conditioning.
11. Engage the 2 claws and install the No. 2 fan shroud to the radiator assembly with the 2 bolts (1) and tighten to 7.0 Nm (62 lb in).
12. Install the upper radiator support sub-assembly with the 4 bolts (1) and tighten to 5.5 Nm (49 lb in).
13. Connect the horn connector (1).
14. Install the hood lock support sub-assembly with the 2 bolts (1, 2) and tighten to 7.0 Nm (62 lb in).
15. Install the water by-pass hose (1) with the 2 clamps (2).
16. Connect the water by-pass hose to the radiator assembly with the clamp.
17. Install the hood lock assembly. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair).
18. Install the 2 radiator support cushions to the 2 upper radiator supports.
19. Install the 2 upper radiator supports with the 2 bolts (1) and tighten to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).
20. Connect the oil cooler hose.
21. Connect the lower radiator hose (1) to the radiator assembly with the clamp.
22. Connect the upper radiator hose (1) to the radiator assembly with the clamp.
23. Connect the radiator reservoir tank hose (1) to the radiator assembly with the clamp.
24. Install the thermistor assembly.
25. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
26. Connect the cable to negative battery terminal.
27. Add the engine coolant. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Service and Repair).
28. Inspect for coolant leaks.
29. Inspect the reservoir tank engine coolant level.
30. Install front bumper assembly. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Without GT) (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement)Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (With GT) (Front Bumper Fascia Replacement).
31. Vehicle preparation for fog light aiming adjustment with fog light.
32. Inspect the fog light alignment. Refer to Fog Lamp Aiming (Procedures).
