J-39914 - Serpentine Belt Tension Unloader
On-Vehicle Inspection
1. Check V-ribbed belt.
2. Check the belt for wear, cracks, or other signs of damage.
If any of the following defects is found, replace the V-ribbed belt:
* The belt is cracked
* The belt is worn out to the extent that cords are exposed
* The belt has chunks missing from the ribs
Note: Check by hand to confirm that the belt has not slipped out of the groove on the bottom to the pulley. If it has slipped out, replace the V-ribbed belt. Install a new V-ribbed belt correctly.
3. Check that the belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove engine under cover RH.
2. Remove V-ribbed belt.
3. Using the J-39914 - unloader (1) , slowly turn the V-ribbed belt tensioner clockwise.
Note: Make sure that the J-39914 - unloader and other tools are set to the tensioner securely. When compressing the V-ribbed belt tensioner, slowly turn the tensioner. Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the parts.
4. Remove the V-ribbed belt from each pulley and slowly return the tensioner.
Installation Procedure
Note: V-ribbed belt layout.
1. Install V-ribbed belt.
2. Using the J-39914 - unloader (1) , slowly turn the V-ribbed belt tensioner EM clockwise and install the V-ribbed belt.
3. Install the engine under cover RH.
