Low Tire Pressure Indicator Does Not Reset

Low Tire Pressure Indicator Does Not Reset

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Diagnostic Procedure Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

Circuit/System Description

The tire pressure control module enters initialization mode and performs initialization automatically when the tire pressure control module receives a signal from the reset switch. If the control module receives a signal, the tire pressure warning light will blink 3 times.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, with the scan tool, enter tire pressure monitor test mode.
2. Press the tire pressure warning reset switch. Tire pressure warning indicator should illuminate.
3. Disconnect the harness connector at the tire pressure warning reset switch.
4. Test for less than 1 ohm between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the reset switch with the switch in the On position.

If not within the specified range, replace the tire pressure reset switch.

5. Test for infinite resistance between terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the reset switch with the switch in the Off position.

If not within the specified range, replace the tire pressure reset switch.

6. Disconnect the harness connector at the Tire Pressure Control Module.
7. Test for less than 1 ohm between the reset switch signal circuit terminal 1 and terminal 1.

If greater than the specified value, test the reset switch signal circuit for an open/high resistance.

8. Test for infinite resistance between the reset switch signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.

If less than the specified value, test the reset switch signal circuit for a short to ground.

9. Test for less than 1 ohm between the reset switch ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.

If greater than the specified value, test the reset switch ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If circuit tests normal, replace the tire pressure control module.
