Generator Replacement (2.4L)

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).


Note: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine under cover right hand side.




3. Remove the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the terminal cap (2).
5. Remove the nut (1) and disconnect the wire harness from terminal B.
6. Disconnect the generator connector (3) and 2 harness clamps.




7. Remove the bolts (1, 2) and generator assembly.




8. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket (1).
9. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the generator assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the bolt (1).

Tighten to 8.4 Nm (74 lb in).




3. Install the generator assembly with the 2 bolts (1, 2).

* Bolt 1 to 21 Nm(16 lb ft).
* Bolt 2 to 52 Nm (38 lb ft).




4. Install the generator connector (3) and wire 2 harness clamps.
5. Install the wire harness to terminal B (1) with the nut and install the terminal cap (2).

Tighten to 9.8 Nm (87 lb in).

6. Install the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the engine under cover right hand side.
8. Connect cable to negative battery terminal.
