5th Clutch Housing Assemble

J 45186 Forward and Direct Clutch Spring Compressor




1. Coat a new O-ring (1) with ATF WS, and install it to the 5th clutch housing.




2. Coat the 5th clutch piston with ATF WS, and install it to the 5th clutch housing.





Note: After installing the spring sub-assembly, make sure all of the springs are fitted in the piston correctly.

3. Install the return spring to the 5th clutch housing.
4. Coat the clutch guide with ATF WS.




5. Install the clutch guide to the 5th clutch housing.




6. Compress the clutch balancer piston return spring with a press and J 45186 .
7. Using a snap ring expander, install the snap ring (2) to the 5th clutch housing.





Note: The end gap of the snap ring should not be aligned with any of the stoppers (1-3).

8. Position the end gap of the snap ring in the 5th clutch housing.
9. Coat the clutch discs with ATF WS.




10. Install the plates (2), discs (1), and flange (3) to the 5th clutch housing.




11. Using a screwdriver, install the 5th clutch snap ring.
12. Check that the end gap of the snap ring is not aligned with one of the cutouts.




13. Coat the bearing and bearing race with ATF WS, and install them into the transmission case.

* Inside bearing diameter - 37.73 mm (1.4854 in)
* Outside bearing diameter - 58.0 mm (2.284 in)
* Inside race diameter - 29.9 mm (1.177 in)
* Outside race diameter - 55.5 mm (2.185 in)

14. Install the 5th clutch assembly to the transmission case.
