Owner Letter Information

Subject: Recall Campaign F04 1982-924, 924 Turbo 1983-944

Dear Porsche Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Porsche AG has determined that a safety related defect exists with the rear spring plates installed on some 1982 Model 924, 924 Turbo, and 1983 944 Porsche vehicles. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a vehicle which may be equipped with such spring plates. Due to an error by the supplier of the rear spring plates, a small number of spring plates were not correctly tempered, and consequently do not meet hardness specifications. Depending on vehicle load, driving conditions and mileage, the improperly hardened spring plates eventually could crack and/or break. This occurrence could affect lateral guidance of the corresponding rear wheel and result in loss of control of the vehicle.

Replacement parts will be available as of September 9th, 1985. The estimated time to perform this repair is about one hour for checking and seven hours if replacement of the spring plates is required. This work will, of course, be free of charge to you.

You should arrange for an appointment with your Porsche Dealer as soon as possible, to have the spring plates on your vehicle checked and/or replaced.

If your dealer fails, or is unable to remedy the defect without charge within a reasonable amount of time you may call or write to:
