Section 15-16
CHECKING ELECTRICAL ACTIVATION OF LIFTING ROOF DRIVE1. Check fuse no. 8 (8 amps.)
2. Take lifting roof switch out of center console with help of a body spatula. Remove cover on plug connection of switch.
3. Make following tests with a volt meter or test lamp.
3.1 Term. 2 must have battery voltage when the ignition is on.
3.2 Term. 3 must have battery voltage when the ignition is off and the ignition key is in its lock (radio position).
3.3 Term. 4 must have battery voltage when the road speed is greater than 5km/h (3 mph). This condition can be simulated by lifting and turning the left front wheel (speed above 5 km h).
If voltage values are not as specified, wires all have to be checked and/or the relay for the lifting roof/radio replaced
4. Check microswitch in roof opening.
Note:
The microswitch will prevent unintentional running out of the locking tongues when the roof has been removed.
4.1 With the root installed, the microswitch must be closed. The switching point is indicated by a loud "click."
4.2 The roof can no longer be lifted when the microswitch is open or wire has a break.
4.3 The operating lever on the microswitch must move easily.
CHECKING POWER SUPPLY FOR LIFTING ROOF MOTOR
1. Check fuse no. 9 (25 amps) in fuse box (auxiliary fuse panel).
2. If the fuse is okay, unscrew trim in luggage compartment at left rear and pull off relays on lifting roof drive.
3. Make following tests with volt meter or test lamp.
3.1 There must be battery voltage on both relay sockets term. 87.
3.2 Terminals 86 and 87 a must have ground potential.
