Section 20
Modification Instructions ForLIFTING ROOF FIT
If the lifting roof fits too tightly within the roof opening, the following work may be carried out:
1. Remove lifting roof. Peel off the roof seal (made up of rubber seal, steel band and felt strip) from the roof. This seal is only pushed on and is available as off-the-roll material. The two ends join together at the rear section of the roof.
Using a small screwdriver or similar tool, the 3 mm rubber tube, usually white, can be pulled out of the periphery of the felt seal.
Should the previously attached roof seal need to be used again, it must be straightened first and then the rubber tube should be pulled evenly from both ends. Usually the rubber tube tears apart after it is stretched between 50 and 10 cm.
Once the aforementioned rubber tube has been successfully removed from the rear and the two side portions of the seal, this seal can be reused despite the rubber tube still left in the forward portion of the seal. Through these measures, the roof seal becomes more elastic and softer.
Before assembly, check the openings of the four drain holes at the corners of the roof opening (water channels) for being free of blockage and check the bordering sealer (PVC).
2. In some individual cases it is necessary to shim-up between the roof and the lifting torque slots, part # 944.564.061/062.00, using a plate or strip (metal, leather strip, plastic, etc. of ca. 1-2 mm thickness).
Through this action the adjusted height of the roof change remains fixed under load.
The two lifting torque slots (fixed with three Phillips screws at the rear of the roof section at the left and right side) act as slots for the lifting tongues of the lifting mechanism.
