To reduce the tendency toward front-end "shimmy" a new flex-type tie rod is now being installed. This tie rod will absorb vibration transmitted through the suspension by various road surfaces. The flextype tie rods can be installed on earlier cars.
Parts required
2 flex-type tie rods Part No. 944 347 033 01
Flex-type tie rod, installing, Before installing new tie rods, ^ insure tires are correctly balanced. "On the car" balancing is best, if available
^ check front end alignment to be sure it conforms to factory specifications.
If tendency to "shimmy" is still present, - replace both tie rods according to procedure outlined in Repair Manual, using tie rods Part No. 944 347 033 01, and existing stop rings, Part No. 477 419 827.
Note
924 vehicles that experience the same condition can be retrofitted with the new-type flex-type tie rods.
