The lubrication bore inside the balance shaft is sealed with an aluminum plug. Some of these plugs may have been damaged in production resulting in an oil leak at the retaining bolt for the drive sprocket. To eliminate this situation, balance shaft hex bolts, Part No. 900 075 088 02, are now installed in production with Loctite sealant as of June 9, 1983:

In case of repair on previously produced vehicles, install hex bolts with Loctite 242 sealant or suitable equivalent (obtain locally).
