Gauge Block 9201/2 - Calibration gauge for Special Tool 9201
Key Points:

Instructions for use when calibrating 9201 Belt Tensioning Gauge.

A gauge block, special tool number 9201/2, is being shipped to dealers as part of the 1984 special tool package for servicing Porsche's.
This tool has been designed to aid in the calibration of special tool 9201 (tester for toothed drive belt tightness) . The new gauge block is designed for a display of 40 scale units and allows checking or calibrating of special tool 9201 to 40 scale units.

Note: Calibrating the tool will be necessary after:
- about 100 measurements
- hard knocks
- light damage
Calibrating will no longer be sufficient when damage is more serious or the display deviates by more than 20 scale units. These testers can be repaired by the supplier.

CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

Necessary Tools: Small screwdriver 1.6 x 40 x 0.4 Gauge block 9201/2

1. Set gauge to zero by turning scale ring of dial gauge until needle and zero point are aligned.

2. Apply gauge block 9201/2, making sure bearing foot is centered on slides.

3. Perform checking procedure as when applied on a toothed belt, i.e. press in measuring point slowly until lockpin is felt to engage and read displayed value on dial gauge.

Note: Older slides could be drilled slightly off-center. When measuring in this case there could be different displayed values depending on the position of the slides.
Therefore, measuring with the gauge should be repeated with the slides in different position. Find the position, which is closest to an adjusting value of 40 scale units. Mark slides (e.g. with paint or electric inscriber) and perform calibration as well as all future measurements in this position.

4. If the display is not Within the specified value of 40 +/- 3 scale units, adjust the dial-gauge. This is done by turnine the calibration screw with a small screwdriver until the specified value of 40 scale units is reached. The gauge block 920-1/2 remains between the test sensor of the tester for this procedure.

5. Repeat the checking procedure with gauge block 920-1/2 after calibration.
