Below is a recap of the key areas of the 1986 Model Year Power Train Warranty. More details may be found in the Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual.
Duration:
60 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first after the date of delivery to the original retail customer or after the date the vehicle was first placed into service for defects in material or workmanship.
Claim Processing:
Submit as a WARRANTY CODE 2 claim.
Authorization Requirements:
None required except for major unit replacement or sublet costs above $100.00
Items Covered
Engine:
All internally lubricated parts and damage to other parts caused by covered components.
Such as: Cylinder block, cylinder head and valve assembly, oil coolers, head gaskets, manifolds, timing belts/chains/tensioner, oil pan, oil pump, water pumps, turbochargers, and all seals and gaskets.
Transmission (Automatic & Standard):
All internally lubricated parts and damage to other parts caused by covered components.
Such as: Transmission and differential housings and all their internal parts, torque converter, drive plate, flywheel, release bearing, guide sleeve, and all seals and gaskets.
Drive Train:
All internally lubricated parts and damage to other parts caused by covered components.
Such as: Torque tube, drive shaft assembly, center bearing assembly, and drive axle with constant velocity joints.
Damage and Malfunctions Not Covered:
- Misuse, negligence, alteration, accident or fire
- Improper repair of the vehicle
- Use of the vehicle in competitive events or
- Failure to follow recommended maintenance requirements
- Service items or adjustments
