Cam belt tensioning and idler rollers may exhibit a slight amount of noise when spun by hand. This noise is considered normal on a used roller.
New spare part tensioning rollers make less noise because the lubrication is new and still thick and acts as a noise damper.
As with all bearings, replacement is necessary only if significant bearing noise can be heard while the engine is running.
