Fuel Pump: Description and Operation

Roller-Cell Fuel Pump Operation:

The fuel pump is a roller cell type of pump and delivers fuel to the fuel rail. The fuel pump operates as soon as the ignition is energized, for about 1 second, to build pressure for starting, then remains energized as long as the engine rotates.
