Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair

Fig.19 Cylinder head tightening sequence.:

Cylinder head cannot be replaced unless engine is removed from vehicle.
1. Remove timing chain and camshafts as previously described.
2. Remove cylinder head attaching bolts in reverse order of tightening sequence, Fig. 19, then the cylinder head.
3. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Apply light coat of oil to cylinder head studs.
b. Install new cylinder head gasket, ensuring ``TOP'' mark faces up and arrow faces front.
c. Torque cylinder head bolts to specifications [1] in proper sequence, Fig. 19.
