This bulletin supersedes Warranty Bulletin Number 8817, dated November 18, 1988. The mileage interval for the first service on 1989-91 Model Year vehicles was changed to 2,000- 2,500 miles with Model Year 1989.
Our warranty system will only accept claims between 1,800-3,500 miles. Claims cannot be processed or authorized beyond these mileage ranges.
Please advise your sales and service staff of these mileage ranges.
On the 911 Cabriolet, the convertible top, must also be checked as part of the first service. Labor operation 61010100 for 20 TU should also be claimed under the free maintenance Part ID.
Actual repairs to the top must be claimed under its own damage code depending on the cause for the repair.
A front wheel toe check is part of the first service. The time units have been included in the new Labor Operations publighed since 1989. This Toe Check was made mandatory (see note) to ensure optimum tire life and resultant customer satisfaction.

Note: Before and after alignment readings must be entered both on the R.O. and in the comment section of the claim as specified in the Warranty Policy Manual, page 3.3-3.4, Item 6, "Dealer Records Required to Support Warranty Claims".
The repair time for the Toe Check portion of the First Service will be debited if alignment readings are not recorded on the Repair Order or printed out on your respective alignment equipment and attached to the respective repair order.
