Section A:Additional Water Drains

To aid in draining excess water from the area of the trunk lid hinges, additional drains can be service installed on the left and right sides. Proceed as follows.

Parts required:
PN 911 631 259 02: Drain piece (qty. 2) PN 964 564 725 00: Hose, 8 mm x 1000 (qty. 2) PN 999 651 159 02: Clip (qty. 2)

Work Sequence:

1. Remove trunk lid seal and trunk floor carpet.

2. Remove side carpet panels. Use care to avoid tearing of the glued down fabric on the trunk seal flange.

Figure A:

3. Remove the rubber grommets (arrow, Figure A) installed in the tooling holes and discard.

4. Install the drain piece (PN 911 631 259 02) over the hose (PN 964 564 725 00).

Note: Do not push the hose into the drain piece too deeply or this will close off the drain opening. Secure the drain piece to the hose with quick drying cement.

Figure B:

5. Feed the plain end of the drain tube assembly down through the tooling hole and route along the inner fender weld seam. Remove the drain grommet and push the hose through the opening (arrow, Figure B).

6. Install clip (PN 999 654 159 02) onto the inner fender weld seam and push the hose into position on the clip.

Figure C:

7. Apply a thin bead of RTV sealer to the seating area of the drain piece and pull downward until firmly installed into the tooling hole (Figure C).

Important: The drain slots of the drain piece must face left and right for proper function. Remove any excess RTV sealer from the area of the drain slots. Also, the drain hose below the drain piece must route straight down to avoid kinking the hose. Ensure the drain has a constant downward routing.

8. After the drain hose is properly routed and secured, trim away excess hose with a knife or scissors. Leave approximately 25 mm of hose exposed at the outside bottom of the rear fenders.
