Test Point 1 - Checking Ground and Plug Connections
TEST POINT 1 - DME 944Note: Go through test points in given sequence, especially when cause of defect is found to be no or poor engine running.
Test point 1 is especially important!
Checking Ground and Plug Connections
A) Ground Points (V)
On clutch bell housing and on engine flange (below plug connection of reference mark and speed sensors).
Ground lead from body to engine.
Are ground connection points clean and tight?
Note: Never start engine when body/engine ground lead has been disconnected! This would destroy the control unit immediately.
B) Plug Connections
Fourteen pin plug above brake booster in engine compartment.
On intake pipe, cyl. no.4.
Reference mark sensor, speed sensor and oxygen sensor plugs.
On idle positioner - three pin plug.
On throttle switch - three pin plug.
On DME control unit - thirty-five pin plug (behind passenger's footwell).
NTC II in engine block above left balance shaft - two pin plug.
Four pin plug on air flow sensor and 4 two pin plugs of fuel injectors.
Are plugs connected correctly, without corrosion and tight?
