Radio - Alarm Contact Insulator When Replacing

All Porsche vehicles for Model Year 1989 have factory alarm systems installed as standard equipment. This system uses an additional alarm contact attached to the right side of the radio mounting frame.





Should radio replacement become necessary in an 89 model Porsche, be certain the alarm contact insulator (Fig. 1) is installed on the right side of the replacement radio in the area shown. Failure to do so will result in alarm system malfunction and a possible dead battery.

Note:
This information applies to Reno and Charleston radios supplied as spare parts. The alarm contact insulator is included in the package with the replacement radio and should be attached prior to installation of the radio.
