A new warranty and procedures manual is now available for your Warranty Policy and Procedures Binder.
This information supersedes the prior manual and becomes effective upon receipt. Available from our Parts Department are additional shrink wrapped inserts under PNA 000 064 and binders under WKD 400 200.
Attached is an "Acknowledgement of Receipt" which must be filled out, signed and returned to Porsche Cars North America's Warranty Department either by mail or FAX transmitted to (702) 348-3770 IMMEDIATELY upon receipt.
Pages with re-emphasized/new information will be indicated with "**" next to the "Revised date 2/15/90" text, so personnel familiar with the current procedures can easily become familiar with the most recent changes.
Main highlights of the changes are as follows:
- The foreword section introduces the manual layout.
- 1990 Model Quick Data Guide Information has been added (pages 0.2,1.2).
- The 944 Cabriolet Top replacement has been added to the Field Authorization Requirements (pages 0.3, 2.3, 4.36).
- The Emergency Parts Freight "VOR" policy which has already been published in a Warranty Bulletin has been incorporated into the manual (pages 0.3, 1.23, 3.13).
- Towing procedure changes due to the Roadside Assistance Program are addressed (pages .5, 2.2, 3.13).
- The Limited Warranty Texts for the 1990 models have been completely revised from prior models and clarifies many of the coverages and customer responsibilities. We urge you to become familiar with these revisions (pages 1.20, 1.41, 1.51, 1.61, 1.87).
- There have been sweeping changes to the California Emisisons Warranties. We urge you to become familiar with these revisions (pages. 1.78, 1.82, 1.85).
- Parts Retention, Core Credit, and Dealer responsibilities in scrapping warranty parts have been reemphasized (pages 2.4, 4.34).
- Mandated Warranty Disclosure has been reemphasized based on recent Warranty Audits. You must comply with these Federal Trade Commission Regulations (page 2.5).
- New Vehicle Delivery requirements have been reemphasized based on recent Customer Relations activity. You must comply with these Federal Trade Commission Regulations and your Sales and Service Agreement (page 2.6).
- New Vehicle Delivery requirements for the 1990 Model Year have been totally revised and now require Customer, Recipient and Dealer representative signatures. You must comply with these requirements as part of your Sales and Service Agreement (page 2.7).
- Parts usage, repair versus replacement and remanufactured parts usage have been reemphasized (pages 2.8, 3.11).
- All factory option codes for radios have been itemized to assure proper warranty coverage decision making (page 2.9).
- Emission component part identifier coverage tables have been updated (pages 2.13-2.19).
- U.S./Canadian Tourist Delivery Program and non-U.S.A. specification Import recommendations have been reemphasized (pages 2.23, 2.24).
- The 1990 Model Demonstrator Warranty Extension request and forms have been addressed (pages 2.26-2.29).
- Dealer records and warranty claim documentation requirements for both paper repair orders and electronic repair orders have been fully addressed. We urge you to ensure compliance with these requirements (pages 3.2-3.6).
- Dealer record retention requirements have been addressed for both paper repair orders and electronic repair orders. We urge you to ensure compliance with these requirements (pages 3.7-3.8).
- The fluids/lubricants quantities and prices have been updated (page 3.14).
- The processing definitions for warranty code 3 and 4 (parts warranties) have been changed to streamline processing. Please note changes (page 4.1).
- Paint and mechanical defect coding has been reemphasized (page 4.4-4.6).
- Repair order requirements for claim preparation have been reemphasized (page 4.7).
- A blank warranty claim sample has been provided for those dealers who use this form as a worksheet. Forms will no longer be available once inventory is exhausted (page 4.16).
- Porsche AG has changed the definitions of the paint repair severity levels (pages 4.17-4.23).
- All paint code conversion numbers from Sales to Service codes have been printed from 1985- 1990 models (pages 4.26-4.29).
- The part numbers for Warranty Support Materials have been expanded (page 4.61).
- The policies and procedures for the handling of Customer Service Contacts has been updated and expanded. You must become familiar with these procedures in relation to "Lemon Law" claim handling (pages 5.1-5.13).
We realize that these highlights are numerous, but advise you to focus on these changes which will assure your dealership of timely warranty claim processing and payments and ensure Customer confidence and satisfaction with your decision making.
Please ensure that all respective Service/Parts/Sales personnel become familiar with these changes.
