Ignition Control Module: Description and Operation
The knock/charging pressure (K/CP)
control unit is mounted the the firewall in the passenger footwell. Knock sensor output and throttle position are directly monitored by the K/CP unit. If a knock condition is detected, the DME is notified so the timing can be modified. In addtion to signalling the DME control unit, it also modifies boost pressure based on engine speed and load conditions via the timing valve.
