Throttle Position Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe signal from the closed throttle position switch is used for idle speed control and deceleration fuel shut-off.
CONSTRUCTION
The Closed Throttle Position Switch and Throttle Position Sensor are in one housing. The closed throttle position switch is a micro switch inside the housing that is closed by the throttle shaft. The throttle position sensor is a variable potentiometer that provides a voltage signal to the Knock Regulation (KLR) Control Unit.
OPERATION
The housing is located on the side of the throttle body and is operated by the throttle shaft. At closed throttle the switch is closed and completes the circuit to the ECM. The throttle position sensor is a potentiometer provides a varying voltage signal to the KLR control unit to indicate load and full throttle. The KLR control unit provides a signal for full throttle to the ECM.
