Models Affected:
911, 944 and 968 Series
Concern:
Normal leakage and noise from folding top.
General Information:
Constantly changing loads and strains that a car is subjected to when driving on the road cause minor changes to the mounting positions of doors, lids and the folding top. For this reason, minor wind noise and seepage at the joints between the folding top and the body and on door windows in Targa and Cabriolet models cannot be completely avoided under all circumstances. It must be understood that some leaks in certain areas, depending upon the amount of the leak, can be considered normal.
NO folding top is 100% leak proof.
Beginning with model year 1992, the following language appears in Porsche Warranty Manuals:
Your Targa(R) or Cabriolet should not be washed in a car wash and may experience damage to the top or windows due to the scratching by the brushes, or may experience leaks due to the high pressure water streams directed in areas which would not experience water in normal driving conditions.
