Air Bag Systems: Service and Repair

Air bag system must be inspected at 4, 8 and 10 years after date of vehicle manufacture, and then every 2 years there after. The vehicle manufacture date is listed on the safety compliance sticker. The safety compliance sticker is located on the left door sill.

Inspect air bag system for the following:

1. Check air bag system for stored fault codes.
2. Ensure no stickers or other items have been affixed to the air bag pads.
3. Check condition of air bag system components and wiring and replace components or wiring as necessary.
4. Check whether modifications have been made to system. Also ensure additional electrical equipment has not been connected to the air system wiring.
