Due to body and assembly tolerances, the contact switches for the doors and/or glove box door may not switch when the doors are closed. This may lead to a possible alarm malfunction or discharged battery.

Vehicle Information:
As of the following VIN'S, new style switches have been installed in production:

Door contact switch as of May 18, 1993 production
Door contact switch from 96 0 RS 820200 (coupe)

Glove box light as of September 8, 1992 production
Glove box light from 96 4 PS 820178
Glove box light from 96 9 PS 840144

Repair Information:
If the customer complains of an alarm malfunction or a discharged battery, check the function of the above mentioned door switches and glove box lamp using the system tester 9288 from the alarm system menu. If the switching tolerances are too close, replace the affected switch or lamp.

Parts Information:
The new door contact switch is grey in color with a 12 mm long activation plunger, (formerly 9 mm long and black in color).

The new glove box light has a shrink fitted tube on the activation plunger to permit better activation.
