A/C Signal: Description and Operation
PURPOSE AND OPERATION
The air conditioning system relay is actuated by DME control unit. When A/C is switched on, a signal is sent to DME unit from A/C switch. DME unit initially boosts engine air intake by a fixed amount. Only then is A/C relay actuated. This prevents engine speed from dropping when A/C compressor cuts in.
SPECIAL FUNCTION
^ DME unit prevents A/C system from coming on, if A/C switch is operated before engine si started or while it is being started.
^ DME unit cuts out signal to A/C system if engine coolant temperature reaches 239 ° F (115° C).
^ When throttle opens very rapidly (throttle valve potentiometer) and full load is then identified (open angle greater than 66°), A/C compressor is cut out for approximately 5 seconds.
