Cylinder Head Installation
Reverse removal step 37 to install cylinder head, noting the following:
1. Before installing cylinder head assembly, ensure head and block surfaces are clean and in good condition.
2. Install a new cylinder head gasket.
3. Threads of cylinder head attaching nuts must be lubricated with Moly grease part No. 999 917 728 00 or equivalent to ensure correct attaching nut torque.
4. Insert washers .413 X .826 X .118 inch (10.5 X 21 X 3 mm) and tighten hexagon nuts. Tighten cylinder head attaching nuts only lightly to allow movement of cylinder head to properly align camshaft housing.
5. The mating surface on which the camshaft housing rests is also a sealing surface. No gasket is provided, but the cylinder head face should be coated with suitable sealing compound.
6. Assemble camshaft housing and oil return pipes. Place spring washers and nuts in correct position but do not tighten.
7. Torque cylinder head attaching nuts evenly to 21-24 ft. lbs.
