Subject:
Replacement of Convertible Locking Latch
Replacement of Rubber Rings on the Roof Frame Installation of Door Rubber Stops

ATTENTION:
Service Manager/Service Technician

This is to notify you of a voluntary Recall Campaign which involves 911 Carrera 2 Speedster vehicles of the model year 1994.

The vehicles involved are within the following Vehicle Identification Number ranges:
WP0CB2963RS465061 to WP0CB2967RS465256

Due to a manufacturing problem, the latch hook on the convertible top of these vehicles can crack. This crack could eventually develop into a break of the latch hook, thus impairing the locking function of the latch hook. At higher driving speeds, the convertible top might open unexpectedly causing a risk of an accident. In order to eliminate this problem, the latch hook assembly will be replaced.

A total of 187 Porsche model 911 Carrera 2 Speedster vehicles are involved in this recall. All potentially contain the defect. Of these, 10 are Canadian vehicles and 137 are still in Porsche's control. The remaining 40 vehicles have been shipped to dealers. The 137 vehicles still in Porsche's control will be repaired before shipment to the dealers.

At the same time as this recall is performed, Porsche will take the opportunity to perform two other non-safety related product improvement programs on these cars. One of these is the installation of larger rubber bumpers to improve roof fitment, the other is the installation of rubber stops to limit door opening in order to prevent paint damage.

Included, please find a listing of the 40 vehicles shipped to dealers which are involved in this Recall.

IMPORTANT:
Always verify open recall status using the Porsche Voice Response system or the IDCS Recall/Campaign by VIN menu option. Most of the vehicles involved in this recall have been repaired either at the factory at the PDI Center in Charleston. Checking for open recall status will help prevent duplication of repairs, inconvenience to the customer and possible warranty claim debits.

Customer Notification
