Fig. 9 Oil Pan Lightening Sequence:

1. Drain crankcase and remove dipstick.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove oil pan attaching bolts.
4. To loosen pan, strike gently with a soft faced hammer.
5. Disconnect steering at crossmember, if necessary.
6. Remove crossmember and loosen left engine mount bolts, if necessary.
7. Remove pan.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Using sequence shown in Fig. 9, torque oil pan bolts in two steps; first step to 36 inch lbs., second step to 90 inch lbs.
