Operation and Features
Activation and DeactivationStarting with an unlocked vehicle, when the remote control is pressed for at least one (1) second, the central locking system, car alarm, and immobilizer are activated. This cycle of activation can be recognized by the flashing of the light emitting diodes (LED) at the top of the door panels. A second pressing of the remote control button will deactivate the system. The remote control has a range of about 15 feet (5 meters) depending on the environment and the strength of the battery in the remote control.
Note:
Frequent activation of the remote control outside its range will lead to rapid discharge of the battery in the remote control.
Immobilizer Warning Light
Key Position:
A warning light in the clock will display the operational status of the immobilizer if the ignition key is switched to position 1 or 2. When the immobilizer is activated, the warning light will be on. Once the immobilizer is deactivated by using the remote control, the warning light will stay on for approximately two (2) seconds for a bulb check (with the ignition switched on).
Important:
Should the warning light flash on and off repeatedly after switching on the ignition, the immobilizer system has a fault, and deactivation is not possible. It will then be necessary to have the vehicle transported to an authorized Porsche dealer.
Automatic Immobilizer Activation
The immobilizer function will activate automatically (without using the remote control) if:
^ the ignition key is removed from the ignition switch and not replaced within 90 seconds and switched to position 2.
^ the key is not placed in the ignition switch and turned to position 2 within 180 seconds after deactivating the system using the remote control.
Note:
If the vehicle starter motor does not operate when attempting to start the engine and the immobilizer warning light is on, press the button on the remote control. After the two (2) second bulb check, the warning light will go out and the engine will start.
